2009

Section SR-9 as we know it today started in 2008. Jordan Hammons was elected section chief at the SR-1 2008 Conclave and Matt Chandler was elected section secretary at the SR-4N 2008 Conclave. James Tarbox (chief), Jonathan Stone (vice chief), and Dan Trust (secretary) were elected at the SR-6S 2008 Conclave. SR-9 began with five officers as soon as the 2008 conclaves concluded.

The council of chiefs met in May to begin planning for the 2009 conclave. At this meeting, a conclave rotation was set. Coosa Lodge was selected to serve as our first service lodge with conclave being held at Camp Comer in Mentone, Alabama.

Before conclave, the 2009 Winter Leadership Retreat (WLR) was held February 7-8 at Camp Comer. The purpose of WLR was to plan for conclave as well as train general lodge members. The 2009 conclave was held April 17-19. Will Jackson was the conclave service lodge chairman. Jordan Hammons was re-elected to serve as section chief. Rajpal Sagoo, vice chief, and Dan Trust re-elected secretary.

An ice cream social was held for the section’s gathering at the 2009 NOAC at Indiana University. The 2010 WLR was held February 5-6 and conclave was held April 16-18 at Camp Tukabatchee with Alibamu as service lodge. David Ehrlich was the conclave service lodge chairman. There were 746 in attendance. Rajpal Sagoo was elected chief, Matthew Beck vice chief, and Jacob Schlies secretary.

The 2011 WLR was held January 21-23 at Camp Lumpkin with Chattahoochee as service lodge. The conclave was held April 15-17 at Camp Thunder with Ini-to as service lodge. Sam Strawbridge served as conclave service lodge chairman. Earlier in 2010 Alapaha, Immokalee, and Pithlako lodges joined the section. Jacob Schlies was elected chief, Nathan Moore vice chief, and Andrew Smith secretary.

The 2012 Conclave Planning Seminar (CPS) was held August 26-28, 2011 at Camp Benjamin Hawkins with Echeconee as service lodge. Conclave was held April 20-22 also at Camp Benjamin Hawkins. Tyler Stepanek was the conclave service lodge chairman. Tyler Stepanek was elected chief, Nathan Moore vice chief, and William Mitchell secretary.

An ice cream social was held for the section’s gathering at the 2012 NOAC. 2013 promotional match books were given to lodges at this gathering.

2014

The 2014 CPS was held August 23-24, 2013 at Moundville State Archaeological Park with Aracoma as service lodge. Conclave was held April 26-28 at Moundville. Nathan Giles served as conclave service lodge chairman. Alexander Leach was elected chief, Patrick Mapp vice chief, and Matt Harris secretary.

2015

Alexander Leach was elected to serve as the 2015 Southern Region Chief.

The 2015 Section Winter Activities Gathering (SWAG) was held January 30 – February 1 at Camp Comer with Coosa as service lodge.  At SWAG Patrick Mapp was elected to serve as section chief and Clayton Carte vice chief.

The 2015 conclave was held at Camp Sidney Dew April 24-26. Waguli was the service lodge.  A record 1007 delegates were registered for the weekend! Patrick Mapp was reelected to serve as section chief. Ben Milner from Egwa Tawa Dee was elected vice chief and Austin Thrift from I-Tsu-La secretary.

The 2016 Indian Winter was held January 8-10 at Camp Thunder with Ini-To as the service lodge.

The 2016 Conclave was held April 15-17 at Camp Rainey Mountain. Mowogo was the service lodge. Patrick Mapp was reelected section chief. Austin Thrift was elected vice chief and Clayton Carte was elected secretary.

 

2017

The 2017 Indian Winter was held on February 3-5 at Warner Scout Reservation with Alibamu as service lodge.  This event introduced the new LINK sessions as an alternative to the AIA events.

The 2017 Inaugural Heartland Gathering (conclave) was held on April 21-23 at Camp Frank G. Lumpkin with Chattahoochee as the service lodge.  Austin Thrift was elected Chief, Austin Clark was elected Vice-Chief,  and Joseph Barnes was elected Secretary.  At the Gathering, the Council of Chiefs voted to add the Vice Chief of the Heartland Gathering as a permanent position for 2017.  Adler Salem will serve in this role.

2018

The 2018 Indian Winter was held at Black Creek Scout Reservation hosted by I-Tsu-La lodge on February 2-4. This event focused on LINK sessions and traditional AIA events.

The 2018 Heartland Gathering was held on April 20-22 at Camp Comer with Coosa as the service lodge.  Austin Clark, from Ini-To, was elected Chief, Joseph Barnes, from Aracoma, was elected Vice-Chief, and William Rud, from Chattahoochee, was elected Secretary.  The Roll of Vice Chief of Conclave will be filled by Zac Hancock from the service lodge, I-Tsu-La.

2019

 

The 2019 Indian Winter was held at Camp Tukabatchee hosted by Alibamu Lodge on January 11-13. In addition to AIA sessions, the event featured multiple LINK trainings.

The 2019 Conclave was held on April 5-7 at Black Creek Scout Reservation, with I-Tsu-La as service lodge.  Joseph Barnes, from Aracoma, was elected Chief, Tyler Wright, from Coosa, was elected Vice Chief, and Joseph Fletcher, from Waguli Lodge, was elected Secretary. The Vice Chief of Conclave will be Jonathan Lewis from Withlacoochee Lodge.

 

2020

The 2020 Indian Winter was held at Camp Horne hosted by Aracoma Lodge on February 7-9.In

addition to multiple AIA trainings the event also featured various trainings on different activities

in our order.

The 2020 Conclave was scheduled to be held at Camp Patten hosted by Withlacoochee Lodge.

Due to concerns with Covid-19 the event was transformed into “Conclave Connected”, a virtual

training day put on by the section officers as well as section chiefs from the Southern Region.

Tyler Wright, from Coosa, was elected chief, Joey Fletcher, from Waguli, was elected

Vice-Chief, Eli Lapeza, from Withlacoochee, was elected Secretary. The COC voted to have the

2021 Conclave at Camp Patten, so Jonathan Lewis continued his role as Vice-Chief of

Conclave.

2021

The 2021 Indian Winter was scheduled to be held at Camp Ben Hawkins hosted by

Echeconnee Lodge on January 8-10. Due to concerns with Covid-19 the event was cancelled.

The 2021 Conclave was held at Camp Patten on April 16-18 with Withlacoochee as the service

lodge. Joey Fletcher, from Waguli, was elected Chief, James Chalmers, from Mowogo, was

elected Vice-Chief, Jacob Ball, from Mowogo, was elected Secretary, and Jonah Overland, from

Echeconnee, will fill the role of Vice-Chief of Conclave.
